Is it possible to build a tolerance to antioxidants? If I consume to
many antioxidants at a young age, will the effect on free radicals be
dampened in later years? Also, what are some foods high in
antioxidants but low in sugar? Thanks,
N.X. Rodser

People are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics ..
One must assume when you say .. "I" .. you actually MEAN .. 'in
general' ..

Soo .. yes .. technically .. you will react more to free radicals
because you no longer will respond to the actions of the various
antibiotics ..

There are different types of sugar.

What is sugar? Most people would answer by describing the white
granulated sugar commonly found on the dinner table. However, this is
only one type of sugar: Sucrose.

Sugar belongs to the carbohydrate group of foods. These are found in
probably all green plant life. There are three types of simple
sugars : Sucrose, Fructose and Glucose. Lactose is another sugar
similar to sucrose. It is found in all dairy products. The two main
types of carbohydrate are sugar and starch.

All food energy comes from the sun`s effect on green plant life. The
plants convert the sun`s energy into sugars and starches. As the human
body cannot convert the sun's energy, it relies on the energy derived
from plants.

A balanced diet comes from a variety of foods which supply the
necessary carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Nutritionists suggest that
carbohydrates should form at least 50% of our energy needs. If there
is not enough carbohydrates available in the body it converts fats and
proteins into glucose.

Starch provides the largest part of our carbohydrate needs. For
primitive man a sweet taste indicated that a food was safe to eat.
Today sugar is used to make foods more appetising and tasty.
