I was having trouble with the 10 pounds I gained over the winter, so I
went back to calorie counting this week. Already lost 2 pounds.

Stress-induced lack of appetite doesn't hurt, either.

Good for you! 10 pounds isn't so bad. It should represent about 35,000
cal. which sounds like a lot, but if your maintenace calories were say
2,000 at the overweight level, if you then ate just 200 calories fewer
per day, you would lose the entire 10 pounds in 175 days, or about 6
months. Of course more exercise on top of this would make the weight
come off sooner. Calories always count, as you found out. Even the
diet drugs put that disclaimer in their adds. I always just felt like
since I needed to eat less and exercise to lose weight, I just
wouldn't bother with any medication, and no fad diets either. The fad
diets, in order to sell you their books or products often suggest that
you can eat all you want of certain foods. OK, maybe you really CAN
eat all the lettuce, and a couple of other vegetables (all you can
stand would be a better wording), but you sure can't eat all the meat,
fruit, or anything else a person might want, cause they were
overweight in the first place by eating too much, and they'll never
lose weight unless they restrict calories. dkw

I can lose weight and not gain it back Most people can follow a diet and lose weight if they really want to. It is keeping it off that is a major problem for most people. This problem stems from dieting mistakes people get trapped in . The biggest mistake of all is not exercising and not eat
