Got my fasting glucose down to 188--not perfect, but not the 300+ it's
been. Am taking Januvia, and it appears to be working. The Atkins diet
didn't work so well for me--stayed on induction for 3 months (meats
and salads, 40g fiber a day, <20g carbs), lost a little at first, then
plateau'd. Stopped drinking aspartame, no change. My thyroid might be
low--average body temp is 97.4, but TSH and T3 tests say no (results:
1 and 1.5 respectively). So am on a low-carb, low-calarie diet now. Am
famished all the time and still can't eat any bread!

(I'd post here more often, offering any help I could, but feel I need
to get my own issues under control first!)

We need a bit more info.

Type 1 or Type 2?
Use insulin?
Current weight?
Gender?
Height?
Method of counting calories?
Calories consumed at plateau?
Calories consumed now?

I would comment that it is unusual to have a hunger problem with carbs below
20, but without more info, I should probably have said nothing.

There are priorities in in life. At this point your need to get your
blood sugar under control is more important than your need to
lose weight. The two efforts will help each other but blood sugar
control is a higher priority. You should discuss going on insulin
with your doctor unless that fasting glucose level continues to
drop month to month.

Oh right, you're the one who wants weight loss to be obvious so
you refused to follow the directions and move on to OWL. Simply
put, if weight loss wree obvious no one would be fat. But here
and now that's not your top priority.

Yup, high blood sugar causes hunger. Getting it under control will
taper the hunger down.
